This report presents findings from a qualitative study on the experiences of victims of cyber crime and fraud in England and Wales. The study found that a lack of clarity on the distinction between cyber and fraud offences made it unclear which agency victims should report the crimes to. The impact of these crimes on victims varied, with some experiencing lower-level anxiety and distress, while others reported more serious effects like PTSD and suicidal thoughts. Compensation for financial loss was a key driver for reporting, and low awareness of Action Fraud was seen as a barrier.
