Citizens need accurate information to make decisions.

PesaCheck is East Africa's first indigenous fact-checking initiative to verify the often confusing claims by public figures in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Initially focused on verifying the financial and other statistical numbers quoted by public figures, PesaCheck now also helps track promises by politicians (through its Wajibisha toolkit) and helps unpack budget and census data (through its PesaYetu platform).

PesaCheck furthermore helps investigative media and watchdog NGOs establish their own standalone fact-check teams.

PesaCheck is an innovateAFRICA.fund grantee, incubated by Code for Africa (CfA), additional support from the International Budget Partnership and Facebook.
