Democratic Innovation in Megacities
NDI is partnering with Living Cities—an organization that harnesses the collective power of the world’s largest foundations and financial institutions to get dramatically better results for low-income urban residents—on a research initiative to explore the innovative ways that megacity governments are strengthening urban democracy.
This includes city initiatives to embed a culture of innovation within government, manage information for openness and improved service delivery, and deepen citizen engagement. NDI and Living Cities are fielding site visits to city governments in Asia, Latin America, Africa and North America, with delegations that include leading urban innovators (from cities such as Boston, Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires) to facilitate international peer exchange. NDI and Living Cities will work with local partners to develop multimedia case studies on promising innovations.
