Dan K Reports’ Cannabis Legislation Tracker is a public-facing legislative transparency tool that monitors active cannabis-related bills across all 50 U.S. states and at the federal level.

The project began in 2025 after recognizing how difficult it is for citizens, journalists, researchers, and even industry participants to understand what cannabis laws are actually being debated in real time. Legislative activity is fragmented across state portals, inconsistently categorized, and often buried in dense legal language that limits public accessibility.

The tracker aggregates 500–1,100 active bills per year, standardizes them into a searchable interface, and provides plain-language summaries so users can quickly understand what policymakers are proposing, where bills stand in the process, and how state approaches differ across the country.
