Belarus ID
The Belarus ID project is a secure, data-encrypted digital identity system through which Belarusians (including exiles) could authenticate themselves and participate in the 2024 Rada-in-exile election.
Belarus ID is a blockchain-based digital identity system created by Belarusian civil society to provide secure, tamper-resistant authentication for citizens in exile. It was first used in 2024 for the election of the Rada in exile, giving Belarusians a way to participate in democratic processes despite repression at home. At the same time, organizers emphasize that registering with Belarus ID may pose risks for those who plan to return to or reside in Belarus, as participation could be monitored or penalized by the authorities. The project comes with specific safety instructions for those who reside in or visit Belarus.
