Actionable Steps to Make Technology Work for Democracy

The role that technology plays in global governance – whether it’s used to strengthen democracies or to advance authoritarian agendas –is essential to the future state of governance in our world. It’s become clear that the way government and civil society use technology play a key role in whether the scales tip toward societies ruled by censorship, surveillance, and suppression of free speech or toward societies that live freely under democratic principles.

The International Republican Institute (IRI) developed the Actionable Steps Workbook resource to support civil society and local government actors in their use of technology to strengthen freedom of expression, privacy and security, transparency, and equity and inclusion.
